The webinar “V.O.I.C.E of Solidarity: Digital Literacy Webinar” was organized by Free European Youth e.V. as part of European Youth Week 2026 to encourage young people to think more critically, responsibly, and confidently in digital spaces. The event focused on media literacy, disinformation, and the role of young people in creating a more respectful and supportive online environment.

Today, young people spend a large part of their daily lives online, where they meet different opinions, news, campaigns, and social discussions. However, digital platforms can also become spaces where false information spreads quickly and where young people may feel confused, excluded, or manipulated. This webinar was created to respond to this need by offering a simple, practical, and youth-friendly introduction to digital literacy.
During the session, participants explored how disinformation works, why misleading content can be difficult to notice, and how online users can check information before sharing it. Instead of presenting digital literacy only as a technical skill, the webinar approached it as an important part of active citizenship, solidarity, and democratic participation.
The event also introduced the idea of digital solidarity. Participants discussed how young people can support each other online, react against harmful content, promote respectful communication, and use digital platforms for positive social change. The webinar created an open learning space where participants could share their own experiences and reflect on their online habits.
The webinar helped participants gain a clearer understanding of how information moves in digital spaces and how easily online content can influence opinions, emotions, and social attitudes. Participants learned practical ways to question digital content, check sources, and avoid contributing to the spread of disinformation.
The event also strengthened participants’ awareness of their personal responsibility in online communities. Through discussions on digital solidarity, they reflected on how small actions such as sharing verified information, using respectful language, supporting vulnerable users, and reporting harmful content can contribute to a safer and more inclusive digital environment.
Beyond individual learning, the webinar supported Free European Youth e.V.’s wider mission of promoting youth participation, democratic values, and social responsibility. Participants left the session with practical knowledge they can use in their daily online lives, youth groups, local communities, and social media networks.
